1. The day a new blog is posted often drives in traffic. But, depending on the content, the traffic could be higher or lower in its increase.
2. Sharing blog links on Twitter greatly boosts traffic. Look at this picture of traffic - the highest two peaks are partly results of Twitter sharing.
3. However, the biggest contributor to the peaks are social mentions beyond just Twitter. Share your blog link in every social network you use - put it in your Pinterest pins descriptions, in your bios, in your online class discussions, in your YouTube videos and descriptions, in your LinkedIn profile, in everything that is relevant!
5. And of course, write regularly, produce engaging and useful content. Use multimedia and multi platforms to produce your content. It doesn't need to be text heavy at all - often it is better not text heavy. Visual presentations are great - images, GIFs, videos, slides, etc. The average attention span online in 2012 was 8 seconds. People spend 100% more time on web pages with videos on them.
